Here’s How to Spring Clean Your Fitness Routine

You’ve heard of spring cleaning your closet or spring cleaning your fridge, but what about spring cleaning your fitness routine? As the weather is warming up, we're feeling feeling ready for a fresh start over here at Frame HQ.  No more stagnant workout routines or ratty old gym t-shirts, we’re ready to dive in to a well-rounded fitness routine we can get excited about, so we can be at our best every day.

Ready to get started with us? Here are 7 ways you can spring clean your fitness routine to feel your best this season.

Log Off While It’s Light Outside

Let’s start with a simple one. Log out of your email and close your computer while it’s light outside. When the days get longer it can be tempting to keep powering through, but your mental and physical health will thank you if you shut down the workday and give your body a chance to get moving in the sunlight.

Get Moving Outside

Step off the treadmill and take that run outside! When it’s 65 degrees, sunny, and beautiful, there’s no reason not to enjoy the great outdoors. Or, if you’re short on time, take a brisk walk midday between meetings. Use any excuse to breathe in the fresh air while getting your heart pumping because, according to Time, exercising outside can have benefits that include lowering blood pressure.

If you have time, slow down your post-run cool down and turn it into a leisurely stroll. Get in your steps while appreciating the flowers and the changing of the seasons. You might discover something new each time you stop to smell the roses.

Deep Clean Your Workout Gear

When was the last time you sanitized your weights? What about your bike? Does your reformer need to be wiped down? It’s easy to remember when you’re at the gym and the wipes are right there but, when you’re home, it’s tempting to move on to laundry that’s waiting or dinner that needs to be started rather than taking the time to clean. Yet, even if you’re the only one using it, your gym equipment can still be a breeding ground for bacteria, according to Everyday Health. Pull out some antibacterial cleaning spray in a refreshing eucalyptus or mint scent and a microfiber cloth to give all your workout gear a deep spring cleaning. Try to make it a weekly routine.

Minimize and Upgrade Your Workout Wear

Introduce some tried and true spring cleaning into your fitness routine by going through your workout drawer. Get rid of clothes that have seen better days, throw out the old t-shirts, donate items that no longer fit, recycle what you can (read this guide from ESPN!), and focus on building an intentional wardrobe of workout clothes that make you feel good about yourself. It’ll only motivate you to work out more.

Work in some Morning Movement

Getting out of bed isn’t easy when it’s 32 degrees and dark, but spring time means it starts getting light outside earlier each morning which makes it easier to get out of bed and get in a quick morning workout. Getting outside for a few minutes in the morning is a great way to stretch your body, get your heart rate up, and give yourself a fresh start to the day.

Add a New Class to Your Routine

Give your fitness routine a boost by adding a new class to your schedule. Maybe try out the new studio that opened in your neighborhood, or take class from a different FRAME instructor next time you workout from the comfort of your own home. With Pilates class styles that range from Classical, to Contemporary, Power, and Fusion, it’s easy to freshen up your workout routine with FRAME’s on-demand content library.

Go Green in Your Pantry and Fridge

Nothing will give you more energy to get up, get out, and get moving than filling your pantry and fridge with fresh, whole ingredients that will provide your body the nutrients it needs. Stock up on seasonal produce to maximize the nutrients you’re getting from each meal. This spring, that could mean asparagus, peas, radishes, green beans, and berries filling your plate.
